After the visit of Queiroga and Damares, Saúde says that the vaccine did not give a reaction in the child

The Ministry of Health confirmed the analysis by the government of São Paulo and said this Friday (21) that the relationship between the Covid-19 vaccination and the cardiac arrest of a child in Lençóis Paulista (SP) is ruled out.

The folder stated that “the post-vaccination adverse event was ruled out”. “Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome, hitherto undiagnosed and unknown to the family, led the child to have a tachycardia crisis, which resulted in hemodynamic instability,” said Saúde, citing the investigation carried out by the local government.

Ministers Marcelo Queiroga (Health) and Damares Alves (Women, Family and Human Rights) visited the child on Thursday (20). President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) called the family.

On Twitter, even after the São Paulo government concluded that the reaction was linked to a rare congenital disease, Damares said that he had a meeting with the child “hospitalized after suspected cardiac arrest on the same day he received the Covid vaccine”.

Queiroga liked Damares’ post. Both did not report that the relationship with the vaccine was already ruled out.

Minister Damares Alves is considering running for the Senate in São Paulo or Amapá. Queiroga, on the other hand, has told allies that he should not run and holds on to the position in Health with favors for President Bolsonaro.

When contacted, the advisers of Damares and Queiroga did not respond if the ministers had already visited families of victims of Covid-19.

The minister has already been to Covid treatment hospitals. In May 2020, Damares was in Floriano (PI) to learn about a treatment protocol with chloroquine. She treated the ineffective remedy against the coronavirus as a “miracle” at the time.

Opposition parliamentarians criticized the visit to São Paulo.

“They went to do an anti-vaccination political campaign. They are soulless people, incapable of loving their neighbor. They cheer for death to question science”, wrote congressman Orlando Silva (PCdoB-SP), on Twitter.

Queiroga also released this week false data on deaths in Brazil linked to the Covid-19 vaccine.

In a note, Health said that “vaccination is safe and was authorized by Anvisa.” “The Ministry of Health continues to monitor the occurrence of post-vaccination adverse events in partnership with municipal and state health departments”, said the folder.

The 10-year-old child received the Pfizer immunizer, indicated for his age group. About 12 hours later, he began to have symptoms that progressed to cardiac arrest. The child already had the condition reversed and was hospitalized, but stable, on Thursday, when the relationship with the vaccine was ruled out.

One point that caught the attention of specialists was the short interval between immunization and the onset of symptoms. The elapsed time would not support the hypothesis of a myocarditis triggered by vaccination, according to the investigation.

Federal government technicians claim that the case could be taken to the pharmacovigilance committee commanded by the Ministry of Health, but that the analysis of the São Paulo government left no doubt.

The investigation of the case was conducted jointly by the Immunization Division of the state and the Epidemiological Surveillance Groups of Botucatu and Bauru, in addition to the municipality of Lençóis Paulista.

The diagnosis revealed a pre-excitation on the child’s electrocardiogram, which, according to the secretary, is a characteristic of Wolff-Parkinson-White (WPW) syndrome.

“This is a congenital condition that causes the heart to have tachycardia crises. Some of these crises can have a very high frequency, leading to syncope or even sudden death”, he explains in a note.
