The Ministry of Health has 31.7 million doses of Janssen vaccine against Covid-19 stopped at the Strategic Inputs Distribution Center of the folder in Guarulhos, in Greater São Paulo.
Only 9.2 million doses were delivered by the folder to the states, according to data from a technical report.
In total, the folder obtained 41 million doses of the immunizer, of which 38 million were acquired in a contract with the laboratory and 3 million were donated by the United States. The information was initially disclosed by Jornal Nacional.
Anvisa (National Health Surveillance Agency) approved Janssen’s vaccine for emergency use in March last year. Unlike other immunizers, it only needs one dose in the primary cycle. The folder adopted the booster dose for those who took the vaccine.
The Ministry of Health said, in a note, that 31.7 million doses are stored and can be promptly distributed when requested by states.
“It is important to clarify that some federated entities asked the folder to suspend the sending of immunizers, due to the saturation of the Cold Network”, he said.
According to Conass (National Council of Health Secretaries), since the end of last year, states and municipalities have requested that the sending of doses against Covid-19 be carried out based on state demand.
He also said that he is not aware of any request from the states for the distribution of a certain manufacturer to the detriment of another.
