As for the leptospirosis cases identified in the affected areas, two are in Karditsa and one in Larissa.

According to her, in the last 24 hours, 1,262 people came to the Health structures and from these arrivals, 4 new hospitalizations of patients with gastrointestinal problems and 8 with respiratory infections resulted.

Ms. Agapidaki stated that leptospirosis is transmitted by urine or tissues from infected animals, such as mice, rodents when they come into contact with the mouth, nose, eyes or an open wound on the skin.

At the same time, he referred to what citizens should pay attention to and the symptoms of the disease.

As he mentioned, citizens should avoid contact with contaminated water when they have open wounds and it is important to have appropriate clothing and footwear, avoid eating agricultural products, fruits and vegetables without being properly washed from flooded areas, protect pets us from the mud.

Citizens should come to the health facilities in time at the first suspicion and the first symptoms, as he said.

The clinical picture of the disease is characterized by fever, chills, flu symptoms such as cough, sore throat, myalgias, headache, rash, even jaundice, vomiting, diarrhea and redness in the eyes.
