The construction of a fully equipped hybrid operating theater (through the NSRF) and the supply of an advanced laparoscopic surgery simulator with complete software for the training of specialists is planned by the Kavala hospital. for the establishment of day-case surgery, as well as the implementation of antimicrobial chemoprophylaxis protocols with a significant reduction in morbidity and the incidence of nosocomial infections.

Efforts to strengthen the Xanthi hospital will continue

In the context of visits to hospitals in Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, Mrs. Vildiridis accompanied by the commander of the 4th Ministry of Health, after the Kavala hospital went to the Xanthi hospital where she participated in a meeting, in the presence of the hospital administrator, with the directors of Medicine, Administration and Nursing Service, the president of the Workers’ Union and the president of the Hospital’s Doctors’ Union. Mrs. Vildiridis, after listening to the issues that were put to her, referred to the initiatives of the leadership of the Ministry of Health to strengthen the Hospitals with staff. He noted that during the last 4 years, 45 permanent medical staff positions have been announced, of which 14 are related to the specialty of Pathology, while at the same time the Hospital has been strengthened with 18 auxiliary doctors of various specialties.

He pledged that the efforts to support the Xanthi Hospital will continue.

It is worth noting that the General Hospital of Xanthi serves in the Emergency Department more than 50,000 citizens per year, which is equivalent to half the population of the Prefecture. Included in the Recovery & Resilience Fund, a 2.5 million euro budget project concerning the upgrading of the TEP based on European standards, will develop the provided health services. In addition, home nursing has started as a pilot with a plan to expand the services provided, and the supply of an immune system is planned to automate the process of performing blood tests, serving more citizens and with greater accuracy.

Emphasis on the staffing of the Alexandroupoli hospital and strengthening of the TEP

Afterwards, Mrs. Vildiridis visited the Alexandroupolis hospital, where she toured its premises and participated in a meeting with the participation of the Hospital administration and the directors of the Medical, Nursing and Technical Services. Particular emphasis was placed on staffing the Hospital, as well as on strengthening the Emergency Department. The Secretary General of Health Services thanked all the staff of the Hospital for the successful operation of evacuating the hospital safely for the patients.

Finally, Mrs. Vildiridis visited the General Hospital of Didymoteicho, where she congratulated the management and staff, for the remarkable indicators they achieve, despite the size and geographical location of the Hospital, such as the 1,700 surgical operations to date for 2023 compared to 1,700 in all of 2022). Many issues were raised, specific to the Hospital, to which many clarifications were given. The General Secretary emphasized that the Ministry of Health aims to improve the health services provided to the citizens and recognizes the contribution of the health personnel in this effort, especially in the critical areas of the country.
