So far, 418 applications for MSD antivirals have been approved (Merck) and another 41 are pending.

Few applications are rejected, especially when they are submitted with a long delay.

The application must be made by the doctor by the third day after the positive test (molecular or rapid) of the patient, otherwise rejected.

In order for the drug to be effective, it must be administered strictly within the first five days after the onset of symptoms.

The committee responds within 24 hours and is informed simultaneously by sms the doctor and the patient, who then must electronically give his consent for the administration of the treatment.

As Deputy Minister Mina Gaga said in a special online update of the ISA, the drug protects to a significant degree. “It’s not 100%, but one in three that seems to be or one in two is very important, we reduce deaths to 50%.”

This treatment is suitable for people who are at risk of developing a serious disease, such as immunosuppressed, chemotherapy, with a history of cancer within the last year, with chronic diseases, etc.

MSD antiviral pills are not recommended for people under 18 years of age, pregnant women and women undergoing IVF.

Patients take 8 pills a day (4 every twelve hours) for 5 days. The package, which they receive by courier at home, contains 40 pills. 28 days after the administration of the drug, the treating physician must re-enter the platform and inform about the outcome of the patient’s treatment.
