Still needing to vaccinate against Covid-19 about 2.3 million children from 5 to 11 years of age, more than 5,000 health centers in the state of São Paulo open this Saturday (5), in a collective effort called by the state government to “C-Day of Vaccination”.
From January 14th, when the application of immunization began for those aged between 5 and 11, until 4:00 pm this Friday (4), 1.7 million children (42.6% of the target audience) had been vaccinated in the state, according to João Doria (PSDB) management.
According to the State Department of Health, all municipalities have enough vaccines to immunize children with the first dose.
The reinforcement of the campaign takes place in the midst of back to school, which in the state network took place last Wednesday (2). In the municipal network of São Paulo, it will be next Monday (7).
5-year-olds and immunosuppressed 5- to 11-year-olds can only receive Pfizer vaccine, while others can be vaccinated with Coronavac.
The state government says it will make R$ 5.5 million available for daily payment to health professionals to open units with complete vaccination teams.
In the city of São Paulo, only UBS Brás, in the central region, will not open this Saturday, as it will change its address. The other 469 basic health units and the 79 AMAs (Ambulatory Medical Assistance) will apply vaccines to children.
Adults and teenagers from 12 to 17 will also be able to take advantage of Saturday for immunization.
“In addition, teams of community health workers will make an active search with home visits to detect the reasons why children have not yet been immunized”, says the Municipal Health Department, in a note.
Children must be accompanied by a guardian over 18 years of age and present an identification document (preferably CPF), vaccination card and proof of address, in the case of São Paulo.
Until early this Friday afternoon, 57% (about 1.1 million doses) of children aged 5 to 11 had been vaccinated against Covid in the city of São Paulo.
In total, 53.6% of adults had already taken the third dose, and 95.7% of adolescents completed the cycle with two doses.
