Complaints have been increasing lately that third parties, non-physicians, perform invasive medical procedures of an aesthetic nature in non-licensed health care providers (dispensaries), the Athens Medical Association (ISA) says in a statement.

Such actions is the application of botulinum toxin (botox), the application of skin implants, threads or other injectable facial or body aesthetic treatments, possibly using materials of dubious quality and unknown origin.

ISA sounds the “alarm bell”: the result of this practice is that reports have increased for deformities of the face or other parts of the body, disfigurements, necrosis, infections, allergic reactions, etc., ISA notes.

The Medical Association draws attention to the public, for reasons of protecting his health and legality.

“These operations are a medical operation performed exclusively by doctors, specifically by dermatologists or plastic surgeons, who have the appropriate education, experience and professional license in legally licensed places, which any interested party can easily locate on the ISA website”, the announcement concludes.
