Drownings off the coast of São Paulo leave three dead

At least three bathers who had fun on the coast of São Paulo drowned last Sunday (6). The survey was carried out by the Fire Department, a corporation to which lifeguards are subordinated.

Among the victims is a 14-year-old girl who drowned in the waters of Perequê beach, in Guarujá, in Baixada Santista. According to the Fire Department, it was around 10 am when lifeguards were called via telephone to respond to a distress call.

One of the Military Police’s Eagle helicopters and an ambulance were moved to the site. The girl’s boyfriend was rescued by other people who were on the beach at the time of the drowning.

The teenager, identified as Vitória Silva, was carried away by the force of the waters. The search for the girl was concentrated until Tuesday morning (8), when her body was finally found, in a place known as Camburizinho beach, in the same city. The recognition of the young woman was carried out by her boyfriend and stepfather, according to the Fire Department.

In addition to Vitória, there were also deaths in Itanhaém and São Vicente. Around 1 pm on Sunday, a 45-year-old woman, resident of São Paulo, drowned on Loty beach, in Itanhaém. Rescued to a hospital in cardiorespiratory arrest, she could not resist.

A little later, around 2:45 pm, firefighters were called to help another bather on Itararé beach. Upon reaching the indicated point, the lifeguards found the victim in the sand strip, with an unconscious frame. Rescued, she also died in hospital.

In addition to the three deaths, actions by the Fire Department on the coast of São Paulo between Friday (4) and Sunday (6) resulted in the rescue of 56 people who were drowning at sea.

According to the Fire Department, between the 4th and 6th of February alone, 40,289 risk prevention measures were carried out. Rescue actions were supported by 30 vessels and three aircraft.
