The deputy minister noted that with the tools available, such as drugs and vaccines, not a single human life should be lost
“There is an increase in the rate of vaccinations but we are not satisfied”, emphasized to SKAI 100.3 the Deputy Minister of Health Irini Agapidaki on the occasion of the increase in the number of cases of coronavirus and also of flu that have been observed recently in our country.
As he mentioned, the fact that we have double the number of deaths compared to the same period last year is not a relief, as with the tools that exist, such as drugs and vaccines, not a single human life should be lost.
He noted that throughout Greece there are 657 vaccination centers as well as mobile units of the EODY that can go to islands or care homes for the elderly to vaccinate citizens.
At the same time, he emphasized that the EODY has again started informing doctors about the new updated vaccines, so that they can recommend them to their patients.
Mrs. Agapidaki called on vulnerable people and citizens over 60 to get vaccinated for flu and coronavirus and those who have symptoms, or have been diagnosed positive to contact their doctor immediately and receive antiviral treatment.
As the deputy minister explained, the phenomenon is dynamic, “we are monitoring it, there is no reason to panic, but we are on heightened alert to be able to protect the citizens”.
