HYGEIA, with a history of more than 50 years, continues to pioneer the field of private healthcare in Greece.
With high standards and specialized medical and nursing staff, it offers health services of excellent quality, which remain at par with the global medical community, with full responsibility and respect for the patient and society. At the same time, it takes care of the training and continuous updating of its scientific staff, as well as its direct partners and at the same time invests in new technologies and techniques, based on internationally recognized practices, making the hospital a reference center in Greece and Europe.
Adhering to timeless principles, such as reliability, pioneering and commitment to the values of corporate governance, HYGEIA systematically invests towards a better future, constantly developing its services and integrating high-tech robotic systems into its infrastructure.
Specifically, it is the first hospital in our country to install the latest generation Da Vinci robotic surgery system, in 2007. Since then, countless pioneering robotic operations have been performed, many of which are distinct milestones in the country’s medical practice.
Where is robotic surgery applied?
Robotic surgery is being developed and successfully applied to a wide range of surgical procedures, covering many specialties and providing advanced solutions to some of the most complex conditions. One of the main areas of application is urology and general surgery, where robotic technology allows various operations to be performed with extreme precision and minimal invasiveness. In addition, in specialties such as gynecology, robotic surgery is applied to a variety of operations, ensuring precision and minimal burden for the patient. Also, robotic surgery is also applied in the fields of otorhinolaryngology, cardiac surgery and endocrine gland surgery.
What is the Da Vinci Xi Robotic Surgery System?
The Da Vinci Xi robotic system is the most advanced achievement in robotic medical technology, offering exceptional performance and innovation. This advanced system allows minimizing post-operative pain and speeding up the recovery process, while offering a perfect medical and aesthetic result. The system has been approved by the FDA, the US Federal Food and Drug Administration, enhancing its reliability and safety. The Da Vinci Xi stands out as the only Robotic Surgery System in the world that can perform specialized laparoscopic procedures while covering a wide range of conventional procedures.
How does the Da Vinci Xi robotic system work?
With the Da Vinci system, the surgeon can perform operations with unparalleled precision and attention to detail, as it has a high-resolution three-dimensional (3D) image that allows the entire operation to be planned in advance, with special components. With the 3D imaging lens system (crystal clear vision), the surgical field can be magnified up to 40 times for very precise, stable and detailed movements. The robotic system has a special console, an endoscopic tower with all the necessary machinery, while its arms are smaller, thinner, allowing a wider range of motion than the previous model. Operations are performed remotely, with minimal intervention on the patient’s body, with the surgeon moving the arms with special controls, each of which is connected to a surgical tool. In addition, it has vessel recognition technology, allowing even the most complex operations to be completed with great safety.
What are the advantages of the Da Vinci Xi robotic system?
With the Da Vinci Xi robotic system, there is safe access to all points of the abdomen with the minimum possible incisions, while at the same time the possibility of ergonomic design is offered to carry out all kinds of operations with greater precision and absolute stability. In addition, the Da Vinci Xi system presents a reduced risk of infection and blood loss, as well as less post-operative pain and length of hospital stay, allowing the patient to recover quickly and return to their daily activities.
HYGEIA is committed to continuously investing in the upgrade of its robotic systems, as it knows how they increase safety and provide even greater guarantees for a smoother and more seamless operation of robotic surgeries. In this context, it constantly expands the scope of their applications to more specialties of surgery and exploits their significant advantages in the recovery of the patient,
