Wearing a mask on the street is no longer mandatory in 5 states and DF

At least five states, in addition to the Federal District, must authorize or have already given approval for the end of the mandatory use of mask on the streets and in open environments.

In Rio de Janeiro, the government left the decision to use in private places to the city halls. Mayor Eduardo Paes (PSD) removed this Monday the mandatory in closed spaces.

In São Paulo, walking without a mask in open places should be allowed from next Wednesday (9). In the Federal District, the authorization was announced last week and went into effect this Monday (7) – the DF had already relaxed the rule in November, but had to go back earlier this year due to the advance of the coronavirus.

Other states that allow walking without protection on the streets are Mato Grosso do Sul and Maranhão. Like Rio, the government of Minas Gerais delegated the decision to city halls —Belo Horizonte has already withdrawn the requirement for public spaces, as it will go into effect this Tuesday (8th) for Boa Vista.

In Rio Grande do Sul, in an injunction, the Justice suspended this Saturday (5) a government decree that released the use of masks against Covid-19 for children under 12 years old.
