The pressure on the health system is constantly escalating, the intubation due to coronary artery is increasing while at the same time social life continues so there are other increased needs in hospitals, for example due to accidents, said speaking to SKAI 100.3 the president of the Medical Association of Thessaloniki, Nikos Nitsas.
“We do not want hospitals to become monothematic,” he stressed.
Mr. Nitsas noted that Thessaloniki has not reached the point of last November, however the Agios Pavlos hospital has been transformed into a hospital hospital, the ICUs are full and other rooms that can treat intubated patients, such as surgeries, are full.
Regarding the call to private doctors, he stressed that efforts are being made to find doctors who will staff the system, but it is not just a matter of the will of the doctors.
Many monitor patients at home so they do not have to go to hospitals.
Speaking to SKAI, the director of the pathology clinic at the University Hospital of Larissa, George Dalekos, estimated that the situation will remain difficult and for at least another 2-3 weeks noted that all ICU beds are occupied and there are 4 intubated patients outside the ICU.
He explained that a percentage of 20% of vaccinated citizens are hospitalized, as the mutated strain of the virus prevails and that is why the booster dose is important.
In fact, he was in favor of granting it sooner.
However, as he noted, this is something that will be decided by the Vaccination Committee.
Referring to the partnership of the private sector, he stressed that what is needed are beds in Intensive Care Units.
