The number corresponds to the total projected by the municipal administration for this group of residents.

The secretariat says that 970,868 doses were applied to this target audience, which totals 115% of the expected vaccine coverage. In relation to the second dose, 844,119 were applied.

“The total adherence of adolescents from São Paulo, in addition to effectively protecting each individual, was also an important safety factor for the health of the school community, effectively reducing the spread of the virus, contributing decisively to the control of the pandemic in the city”, said Luiz Artur Vieira Caldeira, coordinator of health surveillance in the capital, in the official statement from the city hall.

Vaccination of adolescents in the capital of São Paulo started on August 18, 2021 for priority groups and was later applied to everyone in this age group.

In total, according to information from the prefecture, more than 28 million doses were applied in the city.
