Be “precautionary” too! This is the message of the new campaign of the National Program “PROLAMVANO”, which starts today with the aim of raising awareness among citizens about the importance of prevention. The campaign of the Ministry of Health, through a modern and creative approach, invites us all to be “precautionary”.

Not because we fear black cats, open umbrellas, the number 13 or going under stairs, but because prevention for our health is a conscious life choice. Through thematic spots concerning breast cancer, cervical cancer, colon cancer, as well as cardiovascular diseases, the campaign tries to convey the message that a preventive check-up can prevent serious problems, that early diagnosis makes the difference and prevention is our strongest ally.

The State, through the “PROLAMVANO” Program, does not wait for the citizen to go to it, but approaches him first, providing the possibility of free, easy and quick preventive examinations, with the aim of enhancing the health and well-being of all citizens. Already, with the Program “PREVENT” breast cancer – “Fofi Gennimata”, more than 600,000 mammograms have been performed and around 36,000 women have been detected early with findings.

For cervical cancer, over 20,000 HPV-DNA tests and over 300 colposcopies with biopsy have been performed, while for colon cancer, 546,000 citizens have done the self test, and 11,273 have come out positive. After seeing the doctor of those who tested positive, 2,360 colonoscopies and 610 biopsies have been referred and performed.

The prevention program for cardiovascular diseases will soon be launched, which will provide free tests to assess cardiovascular risk.
