According to the EOPY Epidemiological Report on the week of February 3-8, 8 new serious cases of ICU hospitalization were recorded and 5 new influenza deaths
At high levels, the activity of influenza in the community continues to move, with a further increase, as opposed to COVID-19 where the positivity has very low levels. The positivity of the respiratory virus – RSV is also increasing.
According to the EDY Epidemiological Report for the week of February 3-8, 8 new serious cases of ICU and 5 new influenza deaths were recorded.
Specifically, the EDY report states the following:
Influenza
The plot of influenza in the community (as estimated by the Sentinel PFI surveillance network) remains above the limit that marks the seasonal activity of the influenza, with no significant change compared to the previous week.
The positivity of the Sari Surveillance Network samples showed an increase compared to the previous week.
During the last week, eight new serious cases of ICU hospitalization were recorded and five new deaths from laboratory confirmed influenza. In addition, five serious cases of laboratory confirmed influenza were retroactively reported with ICU and one laboratory confirmation for previous weeks.
Overall, 126 laboratory confirmed cases of influenza with hospitalization in ICUs and 36 deaths from laboratory confirmed influenza have been recorded from the principle of influenza surveillance.
Between 2,295 samples (Sentinel community, Sari surveillance and hospitals outside the surveillance networks), 351 (15%) positive examples for influenza viruses were found. The 339 of them were standardized, with 287 (85%) belonging to type A and 52 (15%) to type b.
Of the 268 Type A executives, 174 (65%) belonged to sub -A (H1) PDM09 and 94 (35%) to Subject A (H3).
SARS-COV2 virus-COVID-19 infection
The positivity of all controlled samples is at very low levels and has declined compared to the previous week. 188 new imports were recorded. The average weekly number of new imports in the previous four weeks was 420.
Three new intubations were recorded. The average weekly number of new intubations in the previous four weeks was nine.
The number of patients with COVID-19 infection who are hospitalized is 20.
The number of deaths was nine. The average weekly number of deaths in the previous four weeks was 24.
From the beginning of 2024 until February 8, 2025, recorded deaths in serious incidents (intubated and/or hospitalized in ICU) amount to 372.
Fluid Subscription – ILI (regardless of pathogenic)
The number of influenza incidence per 1,000 visits was reduced compared to the previous week.
Severe Acute Respiratory Infection – Sari (regardless of pathogen)
The number of Sari cases per 1,000 visits showed a slight increase compared to last week.
Respiratory Syndrome – RSV
Positivity showed an increase in the community (Sentinel PFI surveillance network) and a decrease in the Sari surveillance network, however, remaining at low levels.
