On the 5th of May, the philosopher and columnist of SheetDjamila Ribeiro, inaugurates Espaço Feminismos Plurais, a house for the formation of knowledge, promotion of mental health and well-being in Moema, in the south of São Paulo.

The space takes its name from the collection of books that Ribeiro organizes. There are twelve titles signed by black Brazilian academics. The series also spawned an anti-racist education streaming platform, launched in 2020 during the Covid-19 pandemic.

According to the philosopher, the place was created with the aim of democratizing the knowledge produced since 2017 with the collection of books and education projects against racism.

“The institute was already an old dream. I had the dream of having a physical space to contemplate what we have been working on since 2017. A space that people can attend and that provides well-being to the population”, says Ribeiro.

The Feminismos Plurais space will serve vulnerable groups with legal, dental and psychotherapeutic support. The house will also provide entrepreneurship classes with businessman Maurício Rocha, who provided the property.

“We will work with the axes of knowledge, with a library, research room, space for launching books, conversation circles, readings and other works in relation to literature. Also the axes of well-being and training, with psychological care , and legal training, with women lawyers”, he says.

All services offered on site will be free of charge.
