An investigation by the Civil Police of São Paulo exempted employees of the health operator Prevent Senior from the crimes of murder and attempted murder as a result of the prescription for patients with coronavirus of the so-called Covid kit, a cocktail of medicines with no proven effectiveness.
According to the investigation launched by delegate Lisandrea Colaboono, of the 1st Police Station for Repression of Crimes against Personal Freedom, the analysis of medical records did not prove malpractice or negligence on the part of the operator’s doctors, as per the complaint.
In the final report, the delegate stressed that the investigation ruled out “any political-party motivation”. According to Prevent Senior, the company is a “victim of the political system”.
The investigation analyzed the medical records of five patients of the operator who died at the beginning of the pandemic as a result of respiratory symptoms, among them, infectious disease specialist Antony Wong and Regina Hang, mother of businessman Luciano Hang.
The delegate heard the doctors reporting the use of the Covid kit by Prevent Senior. In testimony, they did not confirm that any patient had died due to the use of drugs, despite having been prescribed without proper examinations and prior analysis of the medical record.
In addition to the expert reports made by medical examiners, the police investigation was based on technical analysis by the ANS (National Supplementary Health Agency).
“Criminalizing medical conduct, in this case, would be to condemn countless doctors and health workers who acted and lost their lives in this clash against this new virus hitherto unknown”, wrote the delegate.
For the company’s lawyer, Aristides Zacarelli Neto, the conclusion of the investigation “is the first result of a technical investigation that shows that Prevent Senior was the target of an injustice similar to that suffered by Escola Base almost 30 years ago”.
Completed in early April, the Prevent Senior CPI carried out by the São Paulo City Council accused 20 people linked to the company for 52 crimes in a final report.
The list of accused includes the owners of the health care provider, the brothers Fernando and Eduardo Parrillo, the former executive director Pedro Benedito Batista Júnior, in addition to six other members of the Pentagon, the name given to the company’s top management.
Prevent Senior contested the report and stated that it “has a full interest in technical investigations, without political overtones, to re-establish the truth of the facts”.
