Calmly advises parents about cases of acute hepatitis in children, the President of the Hellenic Pediatric Society and professor of pediatrics Andreas Konstantopoulos.
Speaking to SKAI and the show “Simera”, he stressed that if hepatitis is diagnosed in time, the doctor can intervene, treat it with anti-inflammatory drugs and the child can overcome the risk.
He explained that he was not worried as he said the cases are very individualwhile in the past there were hepatitis caused by other viruses such as infectious mononucleosis.
The sign that parents should be concerned about is jaundice, said the teacher and they should immediately go to a doctor: “When the child has symptoms of a virus, we look at the whites of the child’s eyes. If the child’s eye turns yellow, we go to the doctor immediately, we do not wait for the skin to turn yellow because then it may be too late “.
Also in case the child develops a high fever or gastrointestinal problems, then the parents will consult the doctor so that the child can feel it and immediately after that he will have an examination.
He also said that out of the 280 cases described worldwide, 1 child has lost his life, 7-8 have had a transplant, while two new suspected deaths are reported in India.
