Citing data from the latest scientific research of the AEO for safety of coronavirus vaccinesthe Minister of Health, Thanasis Plevris, categorically rejected allegations that link vaccinations with increased pericarditis problems, which occur in young people after vaccination.
«The latest data of EOF for the safety of covid vaccines, clearly demonstrate that there is no increase in problems with the onset of pericarditis in young people“in relation to the vaccination for covid”, Mr. Plevris emphasized characteristically, answering a topical question of the MP of the Hellenic Solution, Maria Athanassiou, who disputed that the vaccines for the treatment of the pandemic are safe and do not cause side effects.
“By what health criteria do you say there is no problem with vaccines for covid?” Are you sure it’s 100% safe? And why does the doctor not take responsibility? “He only protects himself with the vaccine – and this with a reservation”, commented Ms. Athanassiou.
“What you are claiming is inaccurate. You are lying. “This is not the case,” the minister replied. “Those who are fully vaccinated, basically are fully protected from the pandemic. There is absolutely no increase in complications. There have always been heart attacks, deaths and complications in the community, even in a common flu.
Vaccines for covid are completely safe and are the most tested and in a larger percentage in the population. Thanks to them we entered another phase of the pandemic. Today we have a pandemic recession and this difference is due to the fact that 55% of those vaccinated became 90%. “Nor can we ignore the fact that serious illnesses and deaths are related to the unvaccinated”, Mr. Plevris underlined.
At the same time, he reiterated that the measure of suspending the work of unvaccinated health workers will be valid as long as the pandemic lasts, emphasizing that, for doctors and nurses, there is one more reason for the State to ask for vaccination – and this has a moral basis, he said.
“There is a requirement above for medical staff to be vaccinated. This may not be the case for administrators, but doctors and nurses who do not believe in their own science have put themselves on holiday. We did not retaliate or punish them by asking for their mandatory vaccination, nor did we want to offend them. It was simply a measure to protect public health and prevent the pandemic from spreading. “All European countries have set it and the position of all parties should be clear and they should ask doctors and nurses to be vaccinated”, the Minister of Health stressed and added:
“There are rules of medical science that say which is medically correct, and they prove in practice that the recession of the pandemic is linked to the coverage of the vaccination program. “We saved about 40,000 deaths from vaccination coverage, and if people had not been fully vaccinated, these would not have been the result.”
“We have one more reason to ask doctors and nurses to get vaccinated. They must respect what they have studied and serve, they must respect the rules of medical science. We did not force them to be vaccinated, but we do not deprive the State of the right to protect public health and citizens. Thus, the suspension of the work of the unvaccinated health workers will be valid, as long as the pandemic lasts “, concluded Mr. Plevris.
