Dr. Ranj Singh is a Guest Health Editor for Pride Takeover.

“Pride” has always been a foreign word to me. Pride was not the feeling I grew up with. I was a shy, shy, anxious and sometimes scared child. But are you proud? დ It is not like that.

I don’t think I was really proud until I was completely myself. And that wasn’t until I was thirty. Of course, “camping” was a huge turning point, but it was my first pride event and it strengthened my sense of true identity.

London was a bright sunny day. I had a few drinks to calm my nerves and give me courage. I was invited to the parade and a large LGBTQ+ group was shown on the screen.

Looking out, I saw a sea of smiles celebrating, cheering and supporting my community (and me) just because we were there.

My heart raced with pride. And I walked away with pride. At that moment, I realized its value and importance.

Over the last 50 years, Pride has come a long way in terms of intent and repetition. I think it still has a long way to go to ensure it is fully inclusive.

But it is essentially the same. It should be for all of us, especially those who feel abandoned. It’s also time to remember the universal challenges we all face as a society, especially when it comes to health care (obviously my area of interest). We may be a beautiful and diverse society, but our similarities, especially our struggles with each other, connect us.

Therefore, in the acquisition of Pride Guest Editor, we would like to focus on two important issues. Vote for important health topics you need to know about (especially mental health) and topics you haven’t heard enough about or haven’t heard enough about. Get enough coverage.

Efforts to make the NHS a more inclusive space for patients and staff, HIV prevention, advances in transhealth, LGBTQ+ health heroes (or my ‘cheers’ as I affectionately call them) Read about how to celebrate. !! ).

There is still a lot to do, but there is also a lot to take care of. Of course, 50 years from now, we all deserve pride… as I finally can.
