For most history buffs, the 1930s are a thing of the past.

But vintage fans Lisa and Neil Fletcher have enjoyed it for decades, as if they were still living there.

The couple converted the Somerset home into a pre-war retreat, complete with retro furniture and appliances. It is still in use today, with gramophones and classic cars parked in the garage.

Lisa, 58, dreamed of setting her watch back and persuading engineer Neil, 55, to board the ship after her marriage in 1991.

Lisa and Neil Fletcher rebuilt their lifestyle and home during prewar Britain, from the flooring to the door handles. They only watch black-and-white movies and TV and have old light switches and refrigerators, lawnmowers, vacuum cleaners and cars from the 1930s. The couple pay only cash and try to use a landline phone instead of a mobile phone.

He states, “I’ve always been interested in history since I was a kid. After Neil and I got married, I did some Art Deco designs for the house until he finally started buying them too. I bought it.

“We decided to go with the style of our twenties and thirties, it had to be completely appealing to me. Everything in our house has its own history. I woke up and if everything was modern, it wouldn’t have stuck.” in the closet! “

Watchet’s home renovation, which was relocated six years ago, includes light switches, baseboards, door handles and cabinetry from the 1930s.

The couple then paid $250,250 for the 1929 Jackson Gray enamel stove, which they use every day.

Over time, they filled their wardrobes with original clothing from the 1930s, perfecting their vintage presence.

Liza said, “Someone told me about the business and basically gave me all the wardrobes.

“I also often sell car boots or go to a charity shop.

“I think people see us completely crazy, but I couldn’t imagine anything else.”
