The dates of the 12 signs change slightly each year, so if you were born on the edge of a sign (usually around 21-23 months), for example, a year might be Leo, perhaps after Virgo.

The date of the constellation is calculated from the day of the vernal equinox, the first day of the Aries season. Another factor that changes the date is a leap year.
