Meet the sweet cat, the sneakers, with a brand that always looks like a smile on your face.
Kentucky Owensboro owner Kelly Daviess said:
“He’s a kind of person. He loves to go looking and watch TV. I think he’s probably very happy to know he was rescued.”
“He has a great life. If you look at what I posted on Instagram about him, you’ll notice that he’s in these weird positions, like he’s a human being.
“I’ve never used it, so I take photos at those times.
“He likes the cameras, and when he goes out he just likes to look at them and see himself. Of course, he’s a real hamster.”

Slippers found in the form of a five-month-old kitten when Kelly escaped. Shortly after her mother died in June 2020.
The 46-year-old said: “I lost my mum a week ago and started jogging. I was so depressed I started it because I thought it would help.
“It was my second time running and I think this little kitty came out in front of me.
“The corn stalks were tall and big, so I don’t know where they came from or how they got there.”
When the slippers were found, the poor kitty was small, sick and covered in fleas.
“It must have been very scary for him,” Kelly said. “He probably knew there was a chance he would survive – he came out himself and was very sick.
She barely opened her flea-covered eyes and shook her head, so she knew there were ear mites.
“He was about two miles from home, so I picked him up, took him home, showered and took him to a local vet in the morning.”
There, Snickers underwent numerous tests and required medication and surgery. The total cost was about $7,000 (about £5,700).
After multiple trips to the vet, Snickers was sent to a specialist for a two-hour walk to learn about his health issues.
Kelly said: “It was still beating and I couldn’t walk. She couldn’t hear any sound.
The vet spent weeks trying to give him all sorts of medications but to no avail and no improvement.
So he sent me to an expert in Louisville, Kentucky for about 2 hours for about 4 weeks.
They estimated that she had a CT scan about 4-5 months after birth.
“Then they found out he had large polyps behind his eyes and needed two major surgeries to get rid of all of them.
The surgery was done every 6 weeks and was very expensive.
He was fine after the first surgery, and the second one was done, but he woke up blind.
“They said it was 50/50, whether or not his sight was restored.
Kelly emphasizes that Snickers is worth giving up “every penny,” her (current) two-year-old cat’s constant smile gives the impression that she is grateful and happy for her eternal home.
Furthermore, he even has a smile on his forehead.
“Most people wouldn’t spend money on what I did. He was so sick they probably took him to a killer shelter and let him rest.”
“The vet here considered his demolition, but I wasn’t going to keep him, I didn’t give up on him.
He was a wild cat, but I loved him so much, he always crawled around and kissed me on the face.
He was so kind from the beginning that I had no intention of giving him up.
I got my mom’s life insurance money, so I used it a lot for Snickers.
“My mother felt that I was leaving her money to help her. She wanted me to do something good with that money.
“My savings cost a lot, but you do what you have to do for other creatures, and it’s just money.”
Snickers fans online suggest that his name comes from the color of the fur, which he actually saw the day Kelly found him.
Kelly said: “A lot of people think I call it slippers because it has a chocolate bar on it.
“But the minute I found it at my feet, someone dropped a pack of Snickers bars. I just thought, ‘That’s his name.'”
“I love him. If others find joy in his story, it makes a lot of sense to me.
“It really was fate that we both got lost in each other’s lives. Someone might come out this morning. That was the intention and I think we were saved that day.”
