Ben Mares likes to treat guinea pigs to make life better.
Tik Toker, a 26-year-old Welshman, has a total of five pets named Frankie, Peanuts, Hugo, Paco and Bay Beams, and spends around £1,000 a year on a lavish lifestyle.
When Ben first bought the creature in 2017, he had all the supplies he needed, but decided to make their lives as comfortable as possible.
As a result, AV technicians began investigating and participating in multiple groups on social media, calling out experts who reported that most store-bought cages were “too small” for pets.

After the reveal, TikToker rescued as many guinea pigs as it could until a total of nine guinea pigs ran. Also, the entire room in the two-bedroom house was dedicated to pets.
Now he is urging others to pay more attention to their animals’ living conditions: compare their cages to “box rooms.”
A 26-year-old woman said: “They have lived in this space for seven years, as if they were living in a studio.
After all, the cage is the home of the entire pet, so people need to take into account the size of their pen, of course.
“It’s really hard to sacrifice quality of life. Pet store cages are cruel, so I spent a lot of time.”
‘[After] We bought a 2 bedroom apartment. The idea was to give the guinea pig its own room.
“The benefits to a pet’s life are astronomical. It helps prevent conditions like heart disease, resulting in significantly lower veterinary bills.
“Honestly, the bigger the better”
When a lockdown hit, Ben opened a TikTok account (@benpiggies) to share how to care for his beloved pet.
Naturally, other users commented on the guinea pigs having their own room.
“I want a three-bed house for babies in Guinea, not for children. I got my priorities right,” said one.
But others were more critical.
And another added: “a room bigger than the one I grew up in.”
“Well, I’ll buy them a mansion while we’re there,” said another.
Ben supported her decision, receiving negative feedback at first, but now says he’s happy to even be able to educate people on self-care.
‘first, [the negative comments] It didn’t happen to me until someone pointed out that the only reason people find it weird is because it’s not a dog, he continues.
“My mom had a dog room and I see it normally.
“I sleep knowing they have a great setup, and it’s been said that it inspired many people to re-evaluate their care.
“Upgrades should never be expensive. It’s what you can do with the resources you have.
“There are 100 best ways to care for your pet.”
