(News Bulletin 247) – The Paris index broke a new session record on Monday, shortly before 10 a.m. exceeding the 7,400 point mark.
Still a little further. The CAC 40 broke a new session record on Monday March 6, reaching a high of 7,401.15 points, according to Euronext. The previous record dated February 16 at 7,387.29 points. The CAC 40 still won 0.7% around 10 a.m. at 7,396.24 points.
The Parisian index remains on its good momentum on Friday when it had already taken 0.9%.
Stock markets remain well oriented, market operators “doing their best to maintain the positive momentum of last week”, notes Naeem Aslam, of Zaye Capital Markets.
To see how the Parisian index will behave throughout this week with several very important events. Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell will be heard by both chambers of the US Congress on Wednesday and Thursday. Friday the report on US employment for the month of February will be published at 2:30 p.m., which will be the most important macroeconomic meeting of the week.
Towards 8,000 points at the end of the year?
On the publications side, Thales and Vivendi will publish their annual results on Wednesday, closing the publication season for the CAC 40.
With many drivers (improvement of the economy, reopening of the Chinese economy, corporate results) several intermediaries consider it possible that the Parisian index will cross the unprecedented bar of 8,000 points at the end of the year. It had exceeded the 7,000 threshold at the end of 2021.
“Achieving 8,000 points this year for the CAC 40 is possible even if it will obviously not be done in two weeks”, explained Nicolas Descoqs, manager at Clartan Associés at News Bulletin 247.
