(News Bulletin 247) – EDF announced on Monday the signing of a letter of intent with Edison, Ansaldo Energia and Ansaldo Nucleare with the aim of collaborating in the development of new nuclear power in Europe and promoting its distribution, particularly in Italy on the long term.

The objective of this cooperation is to take advantage of the specific expertise of the four signatories in order to assess the possibilities of industrial cooperation for the development of nuclear energy in Europe, and in particular in the field of small modular reactors.

“With this agreement, we are laying the foundations for a concrete and open reflection on the role of nuclear power in the energy transition”, declares Nicola Monti, CEO of Edison.

‘The Ansaldo Energia group has a pool of skills of fundamental excellence in the path of energy transition’, adds Giuseppe Marino, CEO of Ansaldo Energia.

‘EDF aims to promote international partnerships to deploy a range of nuclear technologies to help Europe achieve its ‘net zero’ objectives, says Vakis Ramany, Director of Development for New Nuclear International , at EDF.
