The case was investigated, following a complaint, by the Internal Affairs Service of the Security Forces of Northern Greece. Criminal proceedings had been brought against the defendants, on a case-by-case basis, for bribery and bribery of an employee, breach of duty, false certification, infidelity, fraud and criminal organization (gang).

All those involved denied the charges against them. In particular, the tax official, who according to the original complaint was responsible for the supply of consumables and the restoration of damages in all the tax offices of the Prefecture of Thessaloniki, stated that she did not have such powers that would allow her to proceed with direct assignments.
