(News Bulletin 247) – Siemens has announced that it will invest 30 million euros in the expansion of its electrical equipment factory in Frankfurt-Fechenheim. A smart and fully automated high-speed warehouse as well as a 1200m² extension of an existing hall are under construction.
The additional production area will accommodate a third switchgear assembly line.
The factory is expanding its production of environmentally friendly medium voltage switchgear, and the two new buildings will have roofs equipped with photovoltaic systems.
“Our investment will ensure the sustainable future of our production site and the employability of our staff,” emphasizes Martin Betzmann, site manager of the Frankfurt-Fechenheim switch plant.
Construction of the high-speed, intelligent and fully automated warehouse is expected to be completed in spring 2024.
Today, approximately 1,600 Siemens employees work in Frankfurt-Fechenheim. By 2025, 200 additional employees should be hired.
