(News Bulletin 247) – ABB announces that it has carried out an extension project for the Marunda lubricating oil blending plant for Shell Indonesia, in order to double its production capacity.
The project began with conceptual studies in February 2018, and the actual work began at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic crisis. The execution of the project was completed within three years, in October 2022.
“The selection of ABB mixing technology and equipment is one of the critical factors for the success of the Marunda 2.0 project,” said Gautam Pal, Vice President of Supply Chain for Shell Lubricants.
“With these processing solutions, Shell Indonesia will optimize all aspects of continuous and batch operations at the existing brownfield site,” adds Bert Engbers, Global Account Manager for Shell, ABB Energy Industries.
The ABB solution is designed to work with existing mixing tools ‘and to support the expansion of Shell’s current site to accommodate the diversity and growth of the product range,’ the company says.
