(News Bulletin 247) – Gaussin announced on Friday that its logistics and port tractors are now recognized as clean vehicles in Canada, an approval that makes them eligible for subsidies.

The engineering group indicates that the ATM, its logistics tractor, and the APM, its port tractor, will be able to benefit from aid of up to 100,000 Canadian dollars (about 73,000 US dollars) per vehicle from the Department of Transport Canada at the federal level.

In Quebec, they may be subsidized up to 85,000 Canadian dollars per ATM (62,000 US dollars) or 105,000 dollars per APM (77,000 US dollars) from the Ministry of Transport.

These announcements come as the Canadian government has implemented a zero-emission medium and heavy-duty vehicle incentive program for companies that wish to lease or purchase a new zero-emission medium and heavy-duty vehicle.

This program provides public subsidies for the purchase or rental of eligible vehicles.

The Government of Quebec has implemented the same type of measures to promote the decarbonization of the transport sector in the province, where road transport accounted for more than 35% of greenhouse gas emissions in 2018.

Based on autonomous technologies allowing use without a driver, the vehicles designed by Gaussin can integrate all types of batteries, in particular electric and hydrogen.

Following these announcements, the title Gaussin climbed 5.8% Friday morning on the Paris Stock Exchange.
