PARIS (Reuters) – Elon Musk, the head of automaker Tesla and aerospace company Space X, will attend the “Choose France” summit in Versailles on Monday, the Elysee Palace said.

On the occasion of the sixth edition of this summit, President Emmanuel Macron will receive leaders of major international companies and is expected to announce a total of 13 billion euros in foreign investment promises.

According to a source in Bercy, Elon Musk is going to the Élysée on Monday morning to meet President Emmanuel Macron. He will then take part in the lunch chaired by the Minister of the Economy Bruno Le Maire in Versailles before a bilateral meeting with the Minister at 4:00 p.m. (2:00 p.m. GMT).

“There are negotiations underway, he is not there only to take advantage of Versailles”, indicated Monday on BFMTV / RMC Bruno Le Maire in reference to the presence of Elon Musk at the “Choose France” summit.

“He has activities in areas that everyone knows, it’s the automotive industry, it’s other industries,” he recalled, without specifying, however, whether a project around Elon Musk would be announced.

“All the investments that are made today are the fruit of months or even years of negotiations,” said Bruno Le Maire.

Elon Musk, who also owns the social network Twitter, spoke by telephone last December with President Emmanuel Macron about the moderation of content on the social network as well as future green industrial projects “in particular on the manufacture of vehicles electrics and batteries.
