(News Bulletin 247) – Nokia today announced the first deployment of 10G fiber broadband in Vietnam with operator Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications (VNPT).

The initial rollout will connect 10,000 homes and businesses across the country’s 8 largest provinces. Nokia provides fiber optic access nodes for operator exchanges and fiber optic modems for end-user premises.

In addition to home internet, the operator offers mobile telephony and pay-TV services. Moving to a multi-gig network will help VNPT differentiate its services and maintain its leadership position.

Dang Anh Son, General Manager of VNPT Net Corporation, said, ‘In a next step, VNPT will work with Nokia to deploy cloud-based network management systems and improve customer experiences through digital transformation solutions. ‘

Rubén Morón Flores, Head of Vietnam Market Unit at Nokia, added: ‘Our solution offers incredible flexibility and scale. Vietnam has ambitious plans and we are delighted to be part of them.’
