(News Bulletin 247) – Alstom announces that it has signed a contract with the Romanian municipality of Cluj-Napoca, in Transylvania, for the construction of line 1 of the city’s metro, as part of a consortium with construction companies public Gulermak and Arcada.

The total value of this state-of-the-art turnkey project is around €1.8 billion and Alstom’s share is around €400 million.

Alstom will be responsible for system integration, signaling and telecommunications, power supply, track works, platform doors, security and control center, as well as the implementation of solutions of cybersecurity.

“This driverless metro provides an exceptional opportunity to innovate in the Romanian market and our international experience provides us with unique expertise, indispensable for such a cutting-edge project,” said Gian Luca Erbacci, President of Alstom’s Europe region. .

The construction of line 1 of the new metro, which will cover 21 kilometers and include 19 underground stations, will take 8 years.
