(News Bulletin 247) – Equinor reports that the positive long-term trend in security continues in the 2nd quarter. The number of serious incidents per million hours worked has never been so lower than the level reached at the end of the second quarter, measured over the last twelve months.
‘ It’s encouraging. We believe in long-term, systematic work and will continue to improve our safety efforts,’ said Jannicke Nilsson, executive vice president for safety, security and sustainability.
At the end of the second quarter of 2023, the frequency of serious incidents per million hours worked (SIF) was 0.3, compared to 0.4 in the first quarter.
The total recordable injury frequency (or the number of injuries requiring medical treatment per million hours worked, TRIF) was 2.5 for the last twelve months in the second quarter, compared to 2.7 in the first quarter.
Eleven oil and gas leaks have been recorded in the last twelve months, Equinor said, adding that there were “no incidents with the potential for a major accident or serious well control incidents during the second quarter”. .
