PARIS (Reuters) – US stock markets are hesitant on Monday on Wall Street, investors remaining cautious ahead of the publication of numerous quarterly results this week and the next monetary policy meeting of the Federal Reserve. The Dow Jones index stagnated at 34,508.28 points, the S&P 500 advanced 0.14%, or 6.16 points to 4,511.58, and the Nasdaq Composite recovered 0.29%, or 40.7 points to 14,154.42. The second quarter results of Tesla, Bank of America, Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs and Netflix are expected from Wednesday, and will allow to gauge the resistance of American companies to the rise in rates. These results will have an even greater impact as there are few economic data expected this week, while the governors of the Fed are entering a period of “blackout”, during which they can no longer express themselves. Caution therefore dominates the markets, especially since the results expected this week concern tech companies whose performance has helped to support the US equity markets this year. On the value side, Tesla is supported by the construction of its first Cybertruck, an electric truck that the group had promised in 2019.
