(Reuters) – Alstom on Tuesday reported a 4.3% rise in first-quarter revenue to 4.2 billion euros, in line with expectations, citing major contract wins.
“During the first quarter, Alstom won major contracts in the Systems business in the Philippines and Romania, as well as a major tram project in Philadelphia, USA,” said Group Chairman and CEO Henri Poupart-Lafarge in a statement.
“The market environment remains positive with a large portfolio of opportunities for the next three years,” he added.
The French railway equipment specialist also confirmed its full-year outlook announced last May, namely an adjusted operating margin (Ebit) of 6% and a significantly positive free cash flow for the twelve months to the end of March 2024.
Alstom also reported 3.9 billion euros in orders in Q1, compared to 5.6 billion euros in the same period last year.
The company attributes the difference largely to a contract worth around €2.5 billion it secured last year with German operator Landesanstalt Schienenfahrzeuge Baden-Württemberg.
