(News Bulletin 247) – Alstom announces today that it has successfully delivered the first trainset of the Bhopal-Indore metro project to Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MPMRCL).
Built in a record time of fourteen and a half months from its notice of procedure (NTP), this train will be deployed in Indore, and should be operational from April 2024, underlines Alstom.
The second train should be delivered by September 20, 2023 to be deployed in Bhopal.
These ultra-modern trains with a capacity of 50 seats and 300 standing places will run at a maximum speed of 80 km/h. The Bhopal line is 31 km long with 30 stations, while the Indore line is 31.5 km long with 29 stations.
‘ Bhopal and Indore have been recognized as smart cities in India, and the addition of the metro will significantly upgrade the infrastructure of these cities. These trains will ensure a safe, reliable, efficient and affordable mass transportation system, while promoting economic activity,” commented Olivier Loison, Managing Director of Alstom India.
As part of the ‘Make in India’ campaign, the Bhopal-Indore metro trains are 100% locally manufactured in Alstom’s state-of-the-art rolling stock manufacturing plant in Savli (Gujarat, India).
