(News Bulletin 247) – Porsche announces that it is considering the possibility of installing a direct CO2 capture system in the air at the eFuels pilot plant in Chile, in collaboration with Volkswagen Group Innovation, the company eFuels HIF Global and MAN EnergySolutions.
As a reminder, this ‘Haru Oni’ pilot plant, located in Punta Arena, brings together Porsche and international partners around the Chilean operating company Highly Innovative Fuels (HIF) for the industrial production of synthetic fuel.
“To slow down global warming, it is essential to reduce emissions and remove CO2 from the atmosphere,” says Michael Steiner, Member of the Executive Board for Research and Development at Porsche AG.
‘At the same time, we need CO2 as a raw material in many production processes. Why not combine the two? We are working on it. We want to put into mass production an industrial process for direct air capture, or DAC. Together with the experienced team from Volkswagen Group Innovation, our established eFuels partner HIF Global and MAN Energy Solutions, we are looking at integrating a DAC pilot plant into the eFuels plant in Chile,” he added.
