(Reuters) – Renault Chief Executive Luca de Meo told the Financial Times that future electrics entity Ampere could be valued at 10 billion euros when it goes public next year.
Sources had told Reuters in July, on the sidelines of the finalization of alliance overhaul agreements between Renault and its Japanese partner Nissan, that Ampere could be valued at up to 10 billion euros.
However, the French manufacturer has not yet formally confirmed its quantified ambitions for the IPO of its future entity.
Speaking to the Financial Times at the Munich motor show, Luca de Meo mentioned an amount that could rise against 8 billion and 10 billion euros for the valuation of Ampère.
Citing the amounts considered to be staggering having accompanied the IPOs of start-ups in the sector, the managing director of Renault underlined what he considers to be a reluctance of European investors, urging them to invest in Ampère instead of affixing points questions to the project.
