PARIS (Reuters) – TotalEnergies CEO Patrick Pouyanné said on Wednesday he would travel to Suriname next week to announce “good news” for the group’s oil projects in the country. South America.
TotalEnergies is notably the operator of block 58, off the coast of Suriname, on which it announced a “significant” discovery of oil and associated gas in February 2022.
“We have a large enough oil deposit in Suriname to launch a deep-sea project, but I will reveal all the details to the President of Suriname,” Patrick Pouyanné told a conference organized by Barclays.
The CEO also said he is expected to announce further details of TotalEnergies’ ongoing exploration work in Namibia at the group’s next Investor Day, to be held in New York on September 27.
While TotalEnergies has pledged to distribute 35 to 40% of its cash flow to shareholders “through the cycles”, with a level above 40% this year, Patrick Pouyanné further stated that this level was subject to of a debate within the group, “positively”, in view of the investor day.
