BRUSSELS (Reuters) – European Union (EU) diplomats agreed on Wednesday on a 15th package of sanctions against Russia over its war in Ukraine, the EU said. Hungarian Presidency of the EU.

The sanctions package targets third-country ships supporting Russia’s war efforts in Ukraine as well as new individuals and entities that will be added to the existing sanctions list, the presidency said on X.

Sanctions targeting the Czech Republic over its imports of Russian oil products via Slovakia will be extended by six months.

“I welcome the adoption of our fifteenth package of sanctions, which targets in particular Russia’s ghost fleet,” said European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

The package is expected to be formally adopted at a meeting of EU foreign ministers on Monday and will target nearly 30 entities, more than 50 people and 45 tankers.

Currently, 2,200 individuals and entities are on the sanctions list, which bans travel and freezes assets within the EU, as well as more than 45 oil tankers.
