(News Bulletin 247) – The Euronext scientific council delivered its verdict this Thursday, and left the composition of the CAC 40 unchanged. However, three changes will be made to the SBF 120.
The Euronext scientific council has made a decision. This body is responsible, every quarter, for deciding on the composition of the major indices of the Paris Stock Exchange.
This Thursday, the scientific council opted for the status quo on the CAC 40 which will therefore retain its current composition. It is, however, very possible that the index will experience changes at the next meeting, on March 13, 2025.
Quite simply because Vivendi, which already constitutes one of the lowest market capitalizations in the index (8.8 billion euros) will have split into four listed entities by then (Vivendi, Canal+, Havas and Louis Hachette Group). This will greatly reduce Vivendi’s weight on the stock market. However, floating capitalization remains, with trading volumes, one of the two main (but not only) criteria on which the council bases itself to render its opinion.

Medincell and Planisware arrive on the SBF 120
If the scientific council left the composition of the CAC 40 unchanged, it however made some adjustments to the SBF 120, the second major index of the Paris Stock Exchange.
Three companies will leave it as of Monday, December 23: the satellite operator Eutelsat, the specialist in active pharmaceutical ingredients Euroapi, which recently faltered on the stock market following the resignation of its general director and the president of its board of directors. administration, and the distributor Casino, whose share price collapsed by 99% this year due to its mega-dilutive recapitalization.
In the opposite direction, Medincell, a biopharmaceutical company specializing in injectable drugs, including a treatment against schizophrenia which is distributed in the United States by Teva under the name “Uzedy”, will land on the SBF 120. In 2024 its price jumped 108.61%.
The specialist in natural flavors used in the perfume industry Robertet will make its return to the SBF 120, after having spent nine months there between June 2020 and March 2021.
Planisware will be the last company to join the SBF 120. Introduced on the Paris Stock Exchange last April, this French publisher of professional software dedicated to project management has had a good stock market performance since then. Its title is currently trading at 27.06 euros against an introductory price of 16 euros, which represents an increase of 69%. Its market capitalization, which is close to 2 billion euros, made the group a natural candidate for inclusion in the SBF 120.
