(Reuters) – Totalenergies and Air Liquide announced on Tuesday two joint projects of a combined value of more than a billion euros, including the production of hydrogen in Europe as well as the creation of a coecent -study owned in equal shares.
These projects would avoid up to 500,000 tonnes of CO2 equivalent emissions per year, according to a press release.
A 200 MW electrolyser in Maasvlakte, Rotterdam, will be built and operated by Air Liquide, and will in particular feed the industrial platform of Totalnergies of Antwerp.
Totalnergies will provide renewable electrons produced by the Oranjewind liquid air project to be transformed into green hydrogen.
This project must be operational at the end of 2027, said a press release.
The joint venture created will make it possible to build and operate an electrolyser of 250 MW near the Zeeland refinery, for an overall investment of around 600 million euros, according to a press release.
With the ambition of being completed in 2029, subject to final authorizations and the investment decision, the electrolyser will be fueled by renewable energy from totalnergies in Oranjewind.
