Frankfurt (Reuters) – Lufthansa will announce the abolition of several thousand jobs on Monday to demonstrate its commitment to increased efficiency in the market, two sources close to the file told Reuters.

The German airline, faced with labor-related problems and cost increases, has issued two warnings on its results for 2024 and promised investors an ambitious recovery program in the coming years.

The group, which has been in charge of its first day of investors on Monday in six years, intends to reduce its administrative staff by 20% in the coming years, said the two sources, although the exact number of layoffs is being determined.

The sources spoke under the cover of anonymity due to the significant nature of the case.

Lufthansa refused to comment.

According to a third source available to negotiations, any dismissal would have an impact on the whole group, and not only on the main airline.
