(Reuters) – The Artificial Intelligence Startup (IA) Openai generated around $ 4.3 billion (3.6 billion euros) in income in the first half of 2025, around 16% more than last year, the information specialized in tech reported on Monday, citing financial information communicated to shareholders.
Openai said that she had consumed $ 2.5 billion in cash, largely because of its research and development costs to improve AI and operate Chatgpt, added the report.
Reuters could not immediately verify the information. OPENAI did not immediately respond to a request for comments from Reuters.
The research and development costs of the Chatgpt creator rose to $ 6.7 billion in the first half, specifies the report, adding that the company had around $ 17.5 billion in liquidity and securities at the end of the period.
OPENAI is targeting an annual turnover target of $ 13 billion and a cash consumption target (“cash burn”) of $ 8.5 billion, continues the report.
In August, Reuters reported that Optai was in preliminary discussions concerning a sale of shares which would allow employees to collect their shares and would probably value the company at around $ 500 billion.
NVIDIA said last week planning to invest up to $ 100 billion in OPENAI, the two companies that have also unveiled a letter of intent for a historic strategic partnership aimed at deploying at least 10 gigawatts of NVIDIA fleas for the infrastructure of OPENAI IA.
