The number of dead and injured from road accidents and accidents recorded in the region of Western Greece has increased in the first four months of 2022, compared to the corresponding period of 2021.
In particular, according to data of the Policepresented by the Athenian-Macedonian News Agency, from January 2022 until last April were recorded in the regional units of Achaia, Etoloakarnania and Ilia, 135 road accidents and accidents, in which 17 people died and 13 were seriously injured. and another 146 were slightly injured.
The equivalent period of 2021there were 81 road accidents in all three regional units, where 8 people lost their lives and five were seriously injured, while the number of lightly injured reached 97.
According to estimates by traffic officers, the increase in road accidents and casualties is mainly due to the fact that there were no travel restrictions due to COVID – 19.
At the same time, as they point out, within this specific period are included the movements of the inhabitants of the urban centers, due to the New Year holidays, the Lights, the Carnival of March 25 and the big outing of Easter.
Meanwhile, according to the analysis of the Police data, most of the traffic accidents during the first four months of 2022 occurred in April, where they reached 39 and the least in January, where 24 were recorded.
Regarding the number of victims, the bloodiest month was January, where six people lost their lives and another 47 were seriously or slightly injured, while the fewest victims were recorded in March, where two people lost their lives and another 28 were seriously injured. or slightly.
Regarding the comparison of the data of April 2022, with those of April 2019where in both months a large output was recorded, due to Easter, the following data emerge:
In April 2022, there were 39 road accidents and accidents, where four people lost their lives and another 44 were seriously or slightly injured.
Respectively, in April 2019, there were 37 traffic accidents and accidents, where five people lost their lives, while one 40 people were seriously or slightly injured.
