Her 55-year-old husband was found guilty of intentional homicide in a calm state of mind with 5 votes in favor and 2 against. Efi Tsichlakiwho in March 2016 was found dead with a bullet to the head inside her house.
The guilt of the 55-year-old husband of Efi Tsichlaki, who was found dead with a bullet in the head in March 2016, was proposed on Tuesday morning by the Prosecutor of the Joint Jury Court of Western Crete.
The Prosecutor requested that the defendant not be granted the mitigation of his previous short life, given both the drug cases and the cases in which he was involved, and the fact that, before the trial in the first instance, he had violated the restrictive conditions.
“Efi Tsichlaki was an educated, polite, social woman,” the Prosecutor stressed, pointing out to the jurors that she rules out the version of suicide.
“Efi Tsichlaki lost her life in two stages,” the prosecutor said. “She was attacked by her husband who hit her, then tried to strangle her with strangulation and while the victim was on the floor unable to resist, she was shot in the head.”
It was preceded by the apology of the 55-year-old defendant, who failed to explain how the weapon was found above the shoulder of the deceased and not at the height of her legs or even her waist. Inaccuracies were also found about what preceded Efi’s death.
The accused claimed that entering the house, he found the victim in the kitchen and gave her his gun to keep it and that at the time of the fatality he was in the bathroom of the bedroom.
