“On foot” the Hellenic Police for a party of anti-authoritarians at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki – At least 10 arrests

The campus of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki has been under siege by strong police forces since early tonight, as a party of people from the wider anti-authoritarian space at the Polytechnic School is in progress. Additional measures and perimeter of the library under construction, for fear of new vandalism.
According to information from GRTimes, the MAT squads have increased within the campus from two in the previous days, to three. From early tonight, the police are constantly apprehending people for precautionary reasons, with the latest information (23.30) stating that at least ten have been arrested.

At this time, according to information, there are about 250 people in the Polytechnic School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in the wider anti-authoritarian space, after a party invitation, a number which will probably increase.

The University has been turned into a “fortress”, for fear of new episodes and possible disasters in the former hangout at the Biological, where the first phase of construction work of the library is gradually being completed, a fact that has provoked reactions.

We remind you that since the morning the AUTh was under police siege in view of the planned student protest rally. Cages with MAT squads on Agiou Dimitriou Street, ELAS patrols in front of the hospital “G. Gennimatas, on Ethnikis Aminis Street, but motorcyclists of the DIAS team, in Sintrivaniou Square on Egnatia Street, completed the image of the police measures, while the water tanker “Aiantas” of ELAS and two MAT squads remained.

The situation, however, remains deplorable due to the incidents that occurred during the week between students and police officers, in front of the STH, during which a 20-year-old student was injured.
