A famous writer and a university professor describe that a typical failure in the Panhellenic Games did not predetermine anything in the course of their lives.
Professor Antonis Karabatzos and the author Christos Homenidis gave their own message of support and encouragement to the students competing in the Panhellenic Games, showing us that in essence a failure in the Panhellenic Games does not predetermine the future course of the children who they did not pass the exams on their first attempt.
In particular, speaking to ERT, they describe their failure in the Panhellenic Games, but also how it affected their lives.
A writer who “stepped” on the Exhibition.
And yet, at its strong point, that is, the written word, the writer Christos Homenidis failed in the Panhellenic Examinations.
«I did not go to the Panhellenic Games, I went to the second. I was the best in the Fair, they considered me the favorite, and I got 12! I did my best to follow the way the caregivers and teachers taught and write a completely conventional and acceptable report. But they probably took me for granted that I was pretending, and one of them gave me a grade of 12 and the other 11. Then the results were posted outside the schools. I went, saw it and went to the Ministry of Education and asked for a reassessment, believing that they would acknowledge their mistake and apologize to me! It was re-rated and the third one gave me 11! As a result I stayed out of Legal Thrace for 1 point… The base was 1647 and I had 1646, I still remember it. And I went to Theology of Athens, which I did not follow σα I gave it again the following year and entered Athens Law»Describes.
Professor Antonis Karabatzos also teaches Law in Athens today. But he had to give Panhellenic for the second time, in order to pass to the specific school.
“I also went to law school in Athens with the second one”, he says.
«I finished the Experimental. I read a lot, but I was unlucky in a lesson, which I kept and gave the following year. I’m ashamed to say what this lesson was… Latin! Which, because I had a lot of confidence, I left for the last month. I went disappointed then to the philologist with whom I did all the lessons – an excellent philologist – and he said to me: Listen and see, Antonis. Xenophon in Kyrou Anavasi says that luck is good, that is, that luck sometimes brings them better in life… I went through the second, during this time I had the opportunity to learn German well, to read many literary books, to travel and then when I entered Law I was hungry and relaxed».
