World Environment Day: Municipalities organize ecological actions, reforestation and recycling

The focus of their activity is this three days the World Environment Day, for the municipalities of Attica. All of them have organized and carried out reforestation, recycling activities, workshops, events and artistic events, thus wanting to honor the day and improve the environmental footprint, but at the same time to inform their citizens and sensitize those who still stand at a distance from those around on the planet and the effects of climate change on nature and our lives.

A series of events are hosted especially by children, through the anxiety of the municipal authorities for the environment that will be handed over to them in the future, but also the effort to learn from now on to love it and to take care of it for the moment when as adults they will take over its protection.

THE Municipality of Kallithea in fact set up an entire Festival of Environmental Awareness and Information, which will last four days (5-8 / 6). It is a celebration with a diverse program of events, which includes information activities and awareness initiatives for the protection of the natural environment, recycling, climate change and the circular economy. The central square of Davaki is transformed into an outdoor amusement park for recycling, where children through fun interactive games and educational experiential activities, will become familiar with the recycling process in order to gain environmental awareness.

«Respect and protection of the environment are our immediate and integral priority. The goal is to ensure a safe future for our children, in a healthy natural environment, with quality of life and together we will succeed“, Says mayor Dimitris Karnavos.

An environmental four-day (3-6 / 6) was also organized the municipality of Moschato-Tavros. Especially today (5/6) the children will plant and play games on recycling. And tomorrow (6/6) will be awarded the schools that participated in recycling programs within the School Marathon, by collecting points from sorting at the source for recycling four streams of materials (paper, plastic, aluminum and batteries).

For its part, the municipality of Elliniko-Argyroupolis is organizing today 1st Environmental Awareness Festival at the Agia Paraskevi Family Park in Elliniko. A celebration for the environment with ecological actions, with Survival Games and a concert of “Love Again”. Today will be the closing ceremony of the competition “Green Medal” with the three distinguished works to be awarded and all entries to be exhibited.

Referring to the creation of this park that will host the Festival, Mayor Giannis Konstantatos said: “The 1st Model Family Park of Agia Paraskevi Elliniko celebrates seven years of life. The most beautiful family park in South Athens. In 2014 we received it neglected, a dry alley and turned it into an earthly paradise, a place of recreation for young and old. We planted hundreds of trees, flowers and herbs, created a bike path for our little friends, 5×5 court, outdoor gym, ping pong tables, modern and safe playground, dog park and herb garden, benches and kiosks offer space for guests beautiful, clean and safe “.

Further north, the municipality of Filothei-Psychiko organizes today in its park recycling action and at the same time events for children, such as treasure hunt with the theme “Where did the flowers go”, music workshops, art and water experiments, as well as an interactive theatrical performance entitled “The super protectors land”.

The municipality of Papagou-Cholargos is moving forward this morning with the participation of citizens in deforestation and cleaning and in the afternoon has planned an original action, “We play volleyball, recycle and learn about environmental protection” at the stadium of Alexandros Papagou Park.

On the occasion of today, the municipality of Agia Paraskevi presented his ecological activities on Friday (3/6) in the central square, distributed aromatic pots, engaged the children in painting and delicacies for the four-legged “visitors”, in an ecological action for stray animals.

The municipality of Halandri honors the environment today with a program of actions around Rematia and the Hadrian’s Aqueduct, with walks, cleaning, watering and care of the reforested area in Frangoklisia, but also with music and traditional dances in the park of Synoikismos.

The municipality of Penteli carried out its own action on Saturday (4/6) together with SPAP (Association of Municipalities for the Protection and Regeneration of Penteliko), while it also organized an interactive trip with games and workshops for children and with the slogan “Only One Earth”. At the same time, he created for young and old a training program for the separate collection of leftovers, but also for the creation of a vegetable garden at home.

The municipality of Maroussi celebrates the Day with cleaning and recycling actions and with the assistance of volunteers and the municipality of Metamorfosi with tree planting. The municipality of Kifissia joins forces with the “Smile of the Child” and together they organize a clean-up action on the Kifissos river, but also an interesting speech on “Poetry and ecocriticism: Environmental ethics and naturalism in the works of Odysseus Elytikos and Nikis”

The municipality of Heraklion invites the citizens today to the park of Panagitsa, in order to get to know how recycling works and especially the children to learn about the Cleaning Service and its machines that clean the city every day and all together to get acquainted with environmental volunteering. In the end there will be an action for the adoption of animals.

On the west side of the basin, the municipality of St. Petersburg puts the “Little Gardeners” in action, so that they can get in touch with nature and take part in the Outdoor Gardening Workshop, which was set up in the Agios Dimitrios Grove. Thus, the “little gardeners” will have the opportunity to plant aromatic plants and to be informed by the agronomists of the municipality about their planting and care.

At the same time, the municipal authority organized the 4th Environmental Awareness Action for the protection of Various conditions, with the slogan “We live our Mountain! WE CLEAN & CARE for the Variety! ” and with the participation of citizens, students, groups, associations and volunteers.

The municipality of Ilio held on Friday (3/6) its own special action for the environment and the municipality of Agioi Anargyroi-Kamatero on Saturday (4/6) in Antonis Tritsis Park events with experiential games, reading ecological books and fairy tales, workshops and art creations, puppetry and dance. And the municipality of Egaleo today dedicates to recycling its own celebration in the grove of the city.

Informative environmental actions for the awareness of the citizens are organized in Alsos by the municipality of Peristeri. Among other things, he will present the new action of separate collection of materials, so that the citizens learn about the secrets of the separate collection of biowaste.

In the municipality of Chaidari are the municipal Nursery Schools that for the next three days (June 6-8) invite the people to the Town Hall Square, to “show ways to protect the planet and ideas to make it happy through the game”. For its part, the Municipal Authority carried out on Saturday (4/6) a cleaning action of the Dafni Grove in collaboration with volunteers, local associations and the Scout Corps.

In the eastern part of the basin, the municipality of Ilioupoli honors the Day at the open municipal theater “Dimitris Kintis” (free admission), with the play “The story of a dog called Faithful”, based on the book by Luis Sepulveda. This is a work whose heart beats loudly for the ancient forests of the planet and for the tribes that still live in them, in harmony with “Mother Earth” and all that it generously gives us, despite the fact that we abuse it.

The municipality of Zografou organizes these days the European Green Week. It started on 30/5 and will end on 6/6, in collaboration with the Greek ambassador of the European Climate Pact, Vanessa Archontidou. This is an interactive educational briefing with 12 presentations on climate change in the city’s Primary Schools. In addition, the Municipal Authority proceeded to plant trees in the surrounding area of ​​the 12th Primary School with the participation of students.

Further south, the municipality of Paleo Faliro and in an effort to encourage environmentally friendly practices to protect it, organized voluntary cleaning of the city beach.

The municipality of Agios Dimitrios celebrated at the same time the Environment Day and the Bicycle Day yesterday (4/6) in the brand new Family Park, with environmental toys, with a green mobile recycling point “the green city”, but also with the show “Karagiozis and the magic tree”. For today he has planned the environmental action “Once upon a time the planet earth was: ecological folk tales for us and future generations”.

The municipality of Vari-Voula-Vouliagmeni organized and implemented in 10 Primary schools an educational program of Circular Economy and Sorting at the Source, in order to inform and raise awareness of students, but through them and their parents and tomorrow (6/6) at the theater “Sofia Vembo” will hold a presentation event of results and rewarding the best performing schools.

Together with the Central Port Authority of the city, the municipality of Elefsina is currently organizing a clean-up action on the coastal front, with the participation of individuals, organizations, schools, residents and associations in the area.

Finally, at the 1st Green Exhibition “Attica Green Expo”, held on the occasion of World Environment Day, in the multipurpose area of ​​Syntagma Metroon Friday 3 and Saturday 4 June, participated with their own stand or participated with speeches in the Conference that took place, several municipalities of Attica, such as Fili, Nea Smyrni, Moschato-Tavros, Paleo Faliro, Alimos, Varis-Voulas-Vouliagmeni.
